Jonathan Logan Family Foundation

OVERVIEW: The Jonathan Logan Family Foundation is a social justice-oriented funder that supports investigative journalism, documentary film production and other organizations and projects that aim to “illuminate the world and create positive change.”

IP TAKE: Jonathan Logan left his parents’ foundation, the Reva and David Logan Foundation, to pursue his own philanthropic interests. His foundation’s two main areas of grantmaking center on investigative journalism and documentary film, but arts and culture, as well as organizations working toward social justice have also received support. Grantees range from large national organizations and institutes to small nonprofit journalism and film production companies.

This is not an accessible funder, but it’s somewhat responsive. Profiles of its directors are available on the foundation’s website.

PROFILE: The Jonathan Logan Family Foundation was established in 2015 in Oakland, California. Its founder, Jonathan Logan, was a director of the Reva and David Logan Foundation, when he split from his parents’ foundation to pursue his own philanthropic interests, which include investigative journalism, film and other arts and culture projects related to social justice.
