PROFILE: Established in 1992, the Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota (CCFM) is a religious community foundation based in St. Paul, Minnesota. It administers at least 1,100 funds. The foundation aims to "support financially the spiritual, educational, and social needs of our Catholic community in Minnesota.” It funds local efforts for Catholic education, human services, churches, youth, health, and other community needs.

The Catholic Community Foundation of Minnesota awards grants by impact area for educational, spiritual, and social needs. Most of these grants come from donor-advised funds, although others come from endowed funds, institutional endowed funds, and unrestricted funds. In a recent year, CCFM distributed over $13 million in grants. About 91 percent of grants are donor-directed, while just nine percent are CCFM-directed. CCFM-directed grants fall into four grant programs: K-8 Catholic school tuition assistance, impact grants, field-of-interest endowment grants, and community priority grants.

Grants range between about $5,000 and $300,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking focuses on the entire state of Minnesota. Past local grantees include Franciscan Retreats, Friends of the Ascension Catholic School, and Friends of the Hennepin County Library.

This foundation does not accept unsolicited grant applications from nonprofits and operates its grantmaking process on an invitation-only basis. Direct general questions to the staff at info@ccf-mn.org or 651-389-0300.
