PROFILE: Established in 2002, the MGM Resorts Foundation is a corporate foundation based in Las Vegas, Nevada. It raises money to support hundreds of charitable organizations. In addition to the corporate giving program, the company’s community engagement strategy involves employee volunteerism and employee workplace giving through the foundation. The foundation also collects and distributes donations made by non-employee third parties in the forms of grants. The foundation supports local efforts related to affordable housing, economic opportunity/workforce development, K-12 education, family services, food security, health and wellness, homelessness efforts, services for seniors, and services for veterans and military families.

Grants for Housing and Homelessness, Public Health and Access, Military and Veterans, and Community Development

The MGM Resorts Foundation has community grants councils in each of its regions of interest, including one in Southern Nevada. This council meets to evaluate grant proposals from local nonprofits and make grant decisions. MGM supports programs and projects for organizations that have been in operation for at least three years. Funding areas are broad, although the foundation does not support public schools, privately funded tuition-based schools, government agencies, athletic programs, pass-through agencies, special events or capital campaigns. The funder also hosts an annual women’s leadership conference to promote the professional development and advancement of women.

The foundation also made grants to support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Past local grantees include Future Smiles, Shade Tree Incorporated, Help of Southern Nevada, and Southern Nevada Public Television.
