IP TAKE: This is a hard-to-reach foundation that does not run a formal application program. Nevertheless, Greensboro-area grantseekers may find it worthwhile to reach out via the organization’s contact page. It is worth noting that this foundation’s founders are Republicans who have supported Trump and some other right-of-center causes.

The DeJoys are major Republican and Trump donors. While some of their philanthropy also supports right-of-center policy institutions, others are nonpartisan. Grantees have included Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, the Council of American Ambassadors and the Burr Center for Legislative Studies at Wake Forest University.

PROFILE: Established in 2005, the Louis DeJoy and Aldona Wos Family Foundation was established by North Carolina couple Louis DeJoy and Aldona Wos. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Louis DeJoy graduated with a B.B.A. in accounting from Stetson University and began his career as a CPA in Florida. For some three decades, DeJoy served as chairman and CEO of New Breed Logistics, Inc., a leading U.S. provider of highly engineered, technology-driven contract logistics solutions. He went on to become president of LDJ Global Strategies, a strategic real estate investment and consulting company based in North Carolina. Aldona Wos attended Marquette University and then the Warsaw Medical Academy from which she received her M.D. She worked for two decades as a physician specializing in internal medicine and pulmonary care. Aldona later moved into public life, serving as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Estonia, and as Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. She also served as Vice Chair of the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships during Donald Trump’s presidency.
