Grants for Film

Panavision’s New Filmmaker Program runs grant and educational programs to support “aspiring filmmakers.”

  • Equipment grants offer “the use of Panavision film or digital camera packages to aspiring filmmakers at little to no cost.” Grants are available to filmmakers in the U.S. or Cananda, but Panavision is unable to offer support to projects shooting in Quebec. Applicants must have “locked” shoot dates for their projects and will not be able to use equipment if dates change. Grantees must also pay a designated service fee when the grant is accepted. Apply at any time using the form on the program page.

  • Post production grants provide support for “finishing and color” post production services. Grants “may only be redeemed in Los Angles or New York” and do not provide support for “sound, VFX or other post production services.” Grantees must pay a designated service fee upon accepting the grant. Applications must be received “a minimum of two months prior to your proposed finishing date” but grantseekers may apply at any time at the program page.

  • Panavision’s educational opportunities include include equipment demos, facility tours and presentations on “topics related to large-format cinematography, optics, and post workflows.” The company also offers educational resources and videos on its website.

  • Panavision sponsors and collaborates with organizations that run special events, conferences and internships related to film. Partners include the Denton Black Film Festival, the American Society of Cinematographers and Made in Her Image, “a movement based towards empowering girls of color in film, media and more.”
