PROFILE: Established in 1948, the Harry M., Miriam C. and William C. Horton Fund supports Rhode Island communities. Born in 1878, Harry Horton was a lifelong resident of Rhode Island and partially owned the Queen Dyeing Company, which his father and oldest brother established in 1893. Horton specialized in dyeing yard and fabric processes to improve the look of finished textiles. He later became the vice president, secretary, and director of the company. Today, this foundation is managed by Bank of America’s Rhode Island/Massachusetts office. Grantmaking includes arts, culture, humanities, education, health, and human services.
