PROFILE: Established in 1956, the Horace A. Kimball & S. Ella Kimball Foundation is a Rhode Island private charitable foundation that makes grants almost exclusively within the state of Rhode Island. The Kimballs have philanthropic roots that date back to the early-1900s, along with its sister organization, the Phyllis Kimball Johnstone and H. Earle Kimball Foundation. Horace Kimball was a woolen manufacturer from Providence, Rhode Island who acquired controlling interest of the Clicquot Club Beverage Company. The Westerly-based foundation gives broadly to a wide range of causes throughout the state, which include homelessness, environment, seniors, youth, animal welfare, arts and culture, neighborhood development, health, and human services.
Kimball regularly supports homeless shelters, the environment, health centers, and volunteer fire and ambulance corps.
