PROFILE: Established in 1992, the Christian Community Foundation (CCF) is a community foundation based in Memphis, Tennessee. It was formerly known as the Hope Christian Community Foundation, but the organization changed its name largely over confusion whether it was affiliated with the Hope Presbyterian Church. Larry Lloyd created this foundation to distribute grants to thousands of ministries and churches around the world. The foundation aims to "serve Mid-South donors and ministries to facilitate the building of God’s kingdom in our community and throughout the world.” It funds local efforts for religion, education, human services, health, children and youth, housing, economic development, financial literacy, criminal justice and other community needs.

The Christian Community Foundation is a large community foundation with a Christian focus that uses donor gifts to give grants to charities. CCF awards grants to many different types of nonprofits as a way of transforming the city of Memphis. Most grants come through donor-advised funds and are for program support. There’s also the Hope for Memphis Fund, which makes grants and loans from earnings surpluses and donations made directly to the fund. CCF announced a new NexGen Fund as a new way for donors to develop generosity strategies with their family members and friends.

Grants range between about $5,000 and $300,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking largely focuses on the Memphis area of Tennessee. However, some other grants have a national and international reach. Past local grantees include Alpha Omega Veterans Services, Aurora Collegiate Academy and Birthright of Memphis.

This foundation does not typically accept unsolicited grant applications from nonprofits, and it does not share grantmaking guidelines or an online application form on its website. Direct general questions to the CCF staff at 901-682-6201 or via online form.
