PROFILE: Established in the late-1990s, the Chisholm Trail Communities Foundation (CTCF) was originally known as the Georgetown Area Community Foundation. It seeks to “bridge donors to nonprofits with effective solutions to meet real community needs in Williamson County.” CTCF was reconfirmed in compliance with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations by the Council on Foundations in 2014. CTCF works to bridge gaps between donors, community members, and local nonprofits. Today, the funder meets its operating expenses through a 2009 gift from the W.D. Kelley Foundation, investment income, and administrative fees. Grantmaking areas of interest include community, youth, arts and culture, human services, and disaster relief.

Grants for Arts and Culture, Community Development, and Disaster Relief

The foundation is made up of agency funds, field-of-interest funds, donor-designated funds, and donor-advised funds. Grant seekers can see a list of them here. CTCF supports the community in several ways, allowing local groups to create a nonprofit fund, apply for a Fast Pitch Grant that benefits Williamson County, apply for a scholarship, and receive disaster relief funding from the Sport Clips Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund. The Sport Clips Wayne McGlone Memorial Relief Fund was established to support Sports Clips employees in times of need. This addresses everything from tornado damage to family health concerns. The best grant opportunities for local nonprofits are CTCF's annual Fast Pitch events. Each year has its own theme, such as arts and culture. The goal of the events is to educate the public about the work of local nonprofits, expose nonprofits to new potential donors, and to award grants. Seeds of Strength is a donor designated funds administered by CTCF and a philanthropic women's giving circle focused on the Georgetown community.  CTCF also awards higher education scholarships through four funds and elementary school enrichment scholarships through the Clara Stearns Scarbrough Music Fund.
