Texas Pride Impact Funds

PROFILE: Established in 2015, Texas Pride Impact Funds (TPIF) is a LGBT-focused community funder based in Houston, Texas. The foundation emerged from a Black-Tie Dinner initiative and has raised over $20 million since 1982 for LGBT causes with its annual dinner. TPIF was created to be a statewide leader in LGBT philanthropy, exclusively committed to Texans. Grantmaking areas of interest include many different LGBT needs in Texas, such as LGBT employment, healthcare, seniors, and youth.
Grants for LGBTQ
In 2016, TPIF started its First Funders campaign, which asked for donations of $3,000, $5,000, or $10,000 to launch grantmaking for local groups. Grant seekers can view a list of these donors here. Early contributors include Funders for LGBTQ Issues, David W. Carlson & Steve Smith, Ron Guillard & Bill Brosius, Michael & Julie Fox, and Richard Holt & Mark McMasters. It is a component fund of The Dallas Foundation, which is the fiscal sponsor of TPIF. However, TPIF has emphasized its goal to provide statewide support and reach many of the rural areas of Texas as well. TPIF awarded its first round of grants in 2018. Grantmaking launched with annual grants but the funder plans to go to a twice-yearly grant schedule.
Grants typically go up to $10,000 and only support organizations that serve LGBTQ communities in Texas. The foundation supports areas throughout the state. TPIF provides seed and pilot funding for startups, program and project support for specific needs, general operating support, capacity building support, and matching grants. It does not make multiyear commitments or support capital campaigns.

The Texas Pride Impact Fund generally accepts unsolicited requests for funding. Annual grant application deadlines are in April, with award announcements in late June.
