The Kirksey Family Foundation

OVERVIEW: This funder supports a broad range of nonprofits in the Dallas, Texas-area.

IP TAKE: This funder is still fairly new on the scene, so it will be interesting to see what Kirksey funds in the future as its priorities become better defined. It does not accept unsolicited proposals, but it does provide a clear means of contact, so grantseekers should feel free to reach out with questions.

PROFILE: Established in 2019, the Kirksey Family Foundation was created by Kevin Kirksey, president of ALM First Analytics, and his wife Jennifer, Managing Director of Wealth Operations at Tolleson Wealth Management. It seeks to support “Dallas-area non-profit organizations with low administrative expenses that focus on enhancing the quality of life for families, education, and animal welfare.” Kirksey’s funding priorities are broadly defined as families, education and animal welfare.

When asked what the foundation looks for in grantees, Kirksey said: “We value qualified public nonprofit organizations that can report metrics on outcomes that the grant helped accomplish, and typically, we will not fund more than 5% of any operating budget or 25% of any program.”
