PROFILE: Established in 1997, the Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region (CFRRR) is a community foundation based in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A small group of philanthropic individuals created this foundation, which is one of at least 28 community foundations in Virginia and that has over 170 funds today. The foundation aims to "build a flourishing philanthropic community.” CFRRR funds local efforts for youth, recreation, education, historical preservation and the needs of women and girls.

The Community Foundation of the Rappahannock River Region has numerous competitive funding opportunities that each have their own focuses and guidelines. For example, Youth in Philanthropy awards grants for youth-led and youth-serving projects. The Duff McDuff Green, Jr. Fund awards large and small grants for youth, preservation and recreation. The Trust for Public Education – Spotsylvania, the Haven Make a Difference Fund – Fredericksburg and the Governors Row Fund for Teachers and Students – Fredericksburg each benefit public school children and teachers. There’s also the Women and Girls Fund at CFRRR and the Virginia Heritage Fund to preserve the history of the region. In addition to grants, CFRRR also awards scholarships to local students.
