BACKGROUND: Nancy Zimmerman, who graduated from Brown University, began her career at O'Connor and Associates and managed the interest rate option group for Goldman Sachs. She went on to co-found Bracebridge Capital, a leading Boston hedge fund. 

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Zimmerman is a trustee and supporter of Brown University. Other grantees include Yale University and Squash Haven. Though neither Zimmerman nor Andrei graduated from Yale, Zimmerman has connections with institution. Zimmerman is close friends with Yale CIO David F. Swenson.

HEALTH: Grantees include Boston Children's Hospital, Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health, and Planned Parenthood.

JEWISH CAUSES: The couple have supported Jewish Family Services of Metrowest.

OTHER: Andrei Shleifer is a prominent economist and professor at Harvard. The couple appear to be interested in entrepreneurship and have supported Social Finance, "a nonprofit organization focusing on the emerging field of Pay for Success financing in the United States." They also direct funds to SheGives.

LOOKING FORWARD: Perhaps more money will move through the foundation in the coming years.
