OVERVIEW: Camillo and Denise Santomero conduct their philanthropy through the Santomero Family Foundation, which available tax filings show, gave away a little under $270,000 in 2017. Santomero supports his alma mater, University of Pennsylvania. Other interests include the arts. Denise serves on several key boards. Westchester County, NY, is an important region of giving.

BACKGROUND: Camillo Santomero graduated with a B.S. from Wharton and an MBA from Stanford Business School. He worked in M&A at Salomon Brothers and was a partner at Chemical Venture Partners (now JP Morgan Partners) and a partner at Butler Capital Corporation. Beginning in 1991, Santomero has partnered with TMB Industries in all of its investments, in addition to making other private equity investments through Guard Hill Holdings and Rabbit Hill Industries.

ISSUES:

EDUCATION & YOUTH: Santomero supports his alma mater, University of Pennsylvania, and Denise’s school Concord Academy. Other grantees include Windward School, St. Paul's School, Fordham Preparatory School, and Westchester Community College, where Denise is on the board.

ARTS & CULTURE: The Santomeros have supported Untermyer Gardens Conservancy, where Denise is on the board, as well as Bedford Historical SocietyBedford Free LibraryHistoric Hudson Valley, and Bedford Playhouse.

OTHER: Grantees include SPCA of Westchester, St. Matthews Church, Hudson Institute, Northern Westchester Hospital, and Westchester Land Trust. Most of these grants are rather modest. 

LOOKING FORWARD: Expect the Santomeros to stick with their established interests for now. Perhaps the family's giving will deepen down the line.
