/OVERVIEW: The Creag Foundation supports the efforts of nonprofit organizations who are innovators in the field of human services. It particularly focuses on smaller organizations that are just starting out or established organizations that are looking for funding to take their organization in a new direction.
IP TAKE: The foundation is in its early stages of development and grant making. It is interested in innovative approaches to addressing current social problems. It does not spread its money widely annually.
PROFILE: Established in 1999, the Creag Foundation is steered by Lois Craig and Robyn Christensen, who serves as executive director. The broad purpose of the foundation is to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations who are innovators in the field of human services. It particularly focuses on smaller organizations that are just starting out or established organizations that are looking for funding to take their organization in a new direction.
The Creag Foundation is in its early stages of development and grant making. For the current grant making period the foundation will consider from 501(c)(3) organizations that are innovators in the nonprofit community.
Important Grant Details:
Grants range from $1,000 to $4,500. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $50,000. Past grantees include Snow Leopard Trust, Recreation Northwest, Wheelchairs for Nigeria, Cascadia Art Museum, and Rescue Freedom International.
Applications are by invitation only. The foundation does accept letters of inquiry. Inquires should include he organization’s mission, history and date of 501(c)(3) approval; the target population that the organization serves; what makes the organization unique in the nonprofit community; the amount and purpose of the grant funds sought; and the time period during which the funds sought will be used.
