IP TAKE: With four grantmaking opportunities per year, KCF offers year-around support to a handful of local groups in each giving cycle.

PROFILE: Established in 1986, the Kent Community Foundation (KCF) is a community foundation based in Kent, Washington. KCF expanded its mission in 2017 to become more encompassing and address the elements of a healthy community, as set forth by the Seattle Foundation. The foundation aims to "strengthen and support our community through partnerships and philanthropy.” It funds local efforts for arts and culture, basic needs, education, economic opportunity, environment, health and wellness and vibrant communities.

The Kent Community Foundation primarily supported education and the cultural arts in the past, and these are still primary focus areas. However, KCF has broadened its scope and mission to support other topics of interest as well. In a recent year, the foundation awarded six new grants. In addition to grants, the foundation also awards scholarships to local students.
