FCASV is not a traditional grantmaker, so it makes sense that it’s grants aren’t readily accessible; however, it’s accessibility has decreased in recent years as it no longer hosts a grant portal on it’s site or RFP guidelines. That said, don’t hesitate to reach out the the organization’s staff to learn about how it chooses to fund, since it does make grants for violence prevention, specifically work focused on preventing, addressing and ending sexual violence. It’s a responsive funder, so don’t hesitate to reach out, keeping in mind that it’s program staff is limited. Much of the staff’s efforts are focused on advocacy and related efforts.

PROFILE: Established in 1986, Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV) is Florida’s federally recognized sexual assault coalition and based in Tallahassee, Florida. It was originally called the Florida Council of Sexual Abuse Services, but changed its name in 1999. This funder offers statewide support for sexual violence issues. FCASV consists of member individuals and agencies that include counselors, crisis centers, law enforcement officers, criminal justice professionals, medical professionals and allied service providers. The organization "leads, informs and inspires the people of Florida to create safe and just communities.” FCASV funds local efforts in the fight against sexual violence and abuse.

Grants for Violence Prevention and Domestic Violence

The Florida Council Against Sexual Violence hosts trainings and conferences to provide information, technical assistance for agencies looking to improve their services and also information to the public. FCASV works to improve sexual violence programs in Florida, raising public awareness about the issue, developing legislative initiatives to help survivors and collaborating with agencies from various fields to advance the issue.

Although this is not a traditional foundation grant maker, it does award grants to advance programs that provide sexual assault services. For example, it issues a Sexual Assault Victim Services (STOP) grant request for proposals for this purpose. Grants typically go to victim services and treatment centers, children’s advocacy centers and sheriffs’ offices.

Grants range between about $5,000 and $500,000.  FCASV has awarded around $6 million annually in grants in recent years.
