PROFILE:  Founded in 2009, the Aaron and Betty Lee Stern Foundation was established by Tiger Management veteran the late Aaron Stern and his wife Betty. As avid art collectors, the couple also invests in grantmaking for arts and culture. Specifically, their private collection includes of international ceramic art and design from the 20th and 21st centuries. The foundation’s arts and culture grantmaking emphasizes educational and arts institutions.

Stern also serves as a trustee of the Robertson Foundation and a member of the board of the Robertson Scholarship program. The couple has supported the Tiger Foundation, a Julian Robertson vehicle that "strives to break the cycle of poverty in New York City."

Other grantees have included Whitney Museum, The Met, MoMA, as well as Columbia University and Fieldston Ethical Culture School.

In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $990,000. The Sterns also direct significant sums to a donor-advised fund at National Philanthropic Trust and make miscellaneous donations of under $5,000, making it tough to fully scope out their giving.
