The Eric D. Hadar Family Foundation funds grantmaking related to supporting research in the field of substance abuse treatment and prevention. It also earmarks funds for helping inner-city children, as well as for Jewish causes. 

The foundation gave a $2 million donation to the Division of Substance Abuse at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons  to support promising research in the field of substance abuse and endow an annual lecture series to disseminate the latest research in the field. It also recently gave a $410,000 gift to Samaritan Daytop Foundation, which "provides comprehensive health and human services to over 30,000 people each year through a network of more than 50 facilities located throughout New York City, Long Island and upstate New York." Hadar sits on the board of Samaritan Daytop. Additionally, he recently partnered with the USTA Foundation and the New York Junior Tennis League (NYJTL) to provide 36 inner-city children with tennis coaching and academic tutoring.

Past grantees include Mount Kisco Child Care Center, Inner-City Scholarship Fund, Riverdale Country School, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and UJA Federation of New York. The Foundation has also given to Friends of the Israel Defense Forces.

Important Grant Details

Grants range from $1,060 to $400,000; however, the most common amount is $25,000. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $1.3 million. The Eric D. Hadar Family Foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
