PROFILE:  The Janklow Foundation was established in 1986. Its founders are literary agents Morton Janklow and Linda Nesbitt Janklow, his wife and a descendant of the Warner Bros. movie dynasty. The late Morton Janklow was a prominent literary agent and co-founder of Janklow & Nesbit Associates along with Linda. Janklow has worked with the likes of Barbara Walters and Danielle Steel. He founded and endowed the Morton L. Janklow Chair in Literary and Artistic Property Law at Columbia Law School, his alma mater. Linda, meanwhile, is founding chair of ArtsConnection, which “connects artists with children, families, and schools in teaching and learning partnerships.”

Grants for Arts and Culture and Higher Education

The foundation does not maintain a website, which makes it difficult to locate further information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. According to tax filings, the Janklow Foundation supports support arts and educational organizations.

Past grantees include Columbia Law School, ArtsConnection, Friends of Upper East Side Historic District, Lincoln Center Theater (Linda is a chair emerita), Park Avenue Armory, Cancer Research Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Weill Cornell Medical College, New Visions for Public Schools, and Congregation Emanu-El.
