OVERVIEW: The John F. Welch Jr. Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, health, poverty, health, and animals.

IP TAKE: The foundation keeps a low public profile, which limits information available on its grantmaking priorities and activities. While contact information is listed below, grantseekers will likely find that networking is their best way forward here.

PROFILE: The John F. Welch Foundation was established in 1986. It was established by former GE CEO, the late John "Jack" Welch. Salem native Welch joined GE as a chemical engineer for its Plastics division and from 1981 to 2001, served as CEO and chairman of GE. Welch is the head of Jack Welch, LLC, where he serves as senior advisor with the private equity firm, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice and is an advisor to IAC. The foundation does not maintain a website, which makes it difficult to locate further information on its priority areas and grantmaking strategies. Tax filings suggest that the John F. Welch Jr. Foundation primarily funds grantmaking related to education, health, poverty, and animals.

Grants for Education, Health, Wildlife and Animal Welfare, and Community Development
