PROFILE: Established in 2012, the Black Philanthropy Fund (BPF) is a philanthropic organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. It is a non-for-profit corporation that is governed by a board of trustees who are elected annually and make financial contributions and personally engage in the activities of BPF. It is these trustees who are responsible for grantmaking, fundraising and setting the strategic direction of BPF. This fund has a donor-advised fund at The Boston Foundation to provide professional management and governance oversight services. The foundation aims to "further enhance the tradition of African-American philanthropy in Boston, with a focus on increasing the magnitude and effectiveness of giving to the black community.” It funds local efforts for Black philanthropy and children and youth.

The Black Philanthropy Fund provides various customized supports for its like-minded partners. BPF values mutual respect and honoring the expertise of local Black leaders to invest in them and support their organizations’ growth. BPR works by investing social capital, financial assets and influence to reduce income inequality and promote direct community action. It is interested in assisting Black leaders in the philanthropic community and also measuring programmatic impact to promote effective approaches. This is a learning and leadership community that is primarily dedicated to Black and disadvantaged local children.

Past local grantees include The Boston Basics, which is a collaborative effort that BPF co-founded to support parents and caregivers as they raise infants and toddlers ages 0-3.
