PROFILE: Established in 1960, the RBC Foundation – USA is a corporate foundation based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Minneapolis-based RBC Wealth Management is a founding member of the Minnesota Keystone Program and pledges a percentage of its profits to charity each year. The foundation aims to "improve the quality of life in the communities where we do business by supporting non-profit organizations that make a positive difference and promote diversity.” It funds local efforts for youth, health, human services and arts and culture.

The RBC Foundation – USA prioritizes youth funding for young people in their transitional years, between ages 15 and 29. These grants invest in 21st century critical thinking skills, addressing skills gaps and vocational training. Health funding goes towards navigation programs for mental wellbeing, technology-based solutions and collaborative efforts for mental health. RBC’s human services grants focus on economic independence, basic needs and adult literacy and training. The funder’s arts and culture support goes to emerging artists and access to the arts for diverse populations. This corporate funder gives out around $2.5 million or more to nonprofits each year. It does not typically fund capital campaigns, start-up organizations or multi-year commitments.

Grants range between about $100 and $10,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving by examining its recent tax records. Grantmaking focuses on communities where the company’s employees live and work, including the Minneapolis area. Past local grantees include St. James Home of Duluth, the Minnesota Zoo Association and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

This foundation does not typically accept unsolicited grant applications from nonprofits because it requires organizations to have an established relationship with an RBC Wealth Management employee. For the Minneapolis/St. Paul metropolitan area, the application deadlines are January 31 and June 30. Direct general questions to the staff at fndapplications@rbc.com or 612-371-2936.
