PROFILE: Established in 1987, the Hastings Community Foundation (HCF) is a community foundation based in Hastings, Nebraska. HCF manages more than 130 charitable funds and distributes grants and scholarships in the local community. The foundation aims to "support nonprofit organizations and donors by building, distributing and preserving philanthropic assets to enhance the spirit of community and the quality of life in the Hastings area.” It funds local efforts for education, human services, youth, arts and culture and other community needs.

The Hastings Community Foundation focuses its efforts on one-time grants for specific local needs. HCF supports a wide variety of local causes and makes itself accessible to grantseekers. The funder has unrestricted funds that it awards with the help of a grants committee that is made up of foundation board members. Recently, many grants have been going towards equipment and repairs that nonprofits need, as well as behavioral health, literacy, hunger and youth needs.
