Lozier Foundation

OVERVIEW: The Lozier Foundation focuses on education, social services and issues involving women and children with an emphasis on the inner city and underrepresented populations.

OVERVIEW: Founded in 1986, the Lozier Foundation is steered by businessman Allan Lozier and his wife Dianne. Allan heads the Lozier Corporation, a store fixture manufacturing company that operates major north Omaha facilities. While foundation does not maintain a website, it does have a web presence, which indicate some of the foundation’s aims. The Lozier Foundation focus on education, social services and issues involving women and children with an emphasis on the inner city and underrepresented populations.

The foundation supports Omaha’s public school system. The foundation opened its own free, private school in 2015 – Nelson Mandela Elementary – which serves high-poverty scholars in north Omaha. They’re also strongly involved with Metropolitan Community College Foundation, contributing to a $90 million revitalization project. The Lozier Foundation also funds other causes in the community, including women’s organizations, funding a study on intimate partner violence through Women’s Fund of Omaha. Dianne is an active advocate for women and girls and education.

Grants range from $565 to around $1.5 million. In a recent fiscal year, the foundation gave away around $19 million. Past grantees have included Women's Center for Advancement, Mercy High School, Omaha School Foundation, Methodist Hospital Foundation, and American Cancer Society.

The foundation prefers agencies with annual operating budgets of at least $500k, and preferably $1 million or larger.  Grants are generally limited to the immediate Omaha area with a preference for the inner-city. Lozier Foundation keeps a low profile and does not accept unsolicited proposals.
