PROFILE: Established in 1971, the Lawrence T. & Janet T. Dee Foundation is a family foundation based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Lawrence Dee was an Ogden, Utah native, and the couple lived here after meeting on a train. They spent their adult lives contributing to the prosperity of Ogden – Lawrence as a civic leader and businessman with the Utah Canning Company and Janet with her dedication to local community services. The foundations directions are all Dee family members today. The foundation is dedicated to "furthering the growth and well-being of the people of northern Utah.” It funds local efforts for human services, arts and culture, children and youth, education and conservation.

The Lawrence T. & Janet T. Dee Foundation supports many different types of charitable efforts in the region. The funder’s board meets twice per year to consider new funding requests. Nonprofits can submit one unsolicited application to be considered per year. The Dee Foundation often supports local arts groups, social services charities and efforts that benefit children. Grants range between about $2,000 and $100,000. Grantmaking focuses on the state of Utah and especially the Norther Utah communities of Ogden and Salt Lake. On a more limited basis, the foundation considers funding requests from Utah organizations that provide services in other parts of the state.

This foundation accepts unsolicited grant requests from nonprofits. The pre-application cutoff dates are March 31 for the spring funding period and August 31 for the fall funding period. Full application deadlines are April 15 and September 15. Online application submission is the preferred method; however, the funder will also accept written proposals via mail.
