PROFILE: Established in 2000, the Northern Piedmont Community Foundation (NPCF) is a community foundation based in Culpeper, Virginia. Nine local concerned citizens came together then to discuss solutions to charitable needs in the region. The foundation aims to enhance the quality of life in the local area “by building a permanent endowment fund and using the annual income to support a variety of local nonprofit organizations through grants and special projects. It funds local efforts for human services, education, environment, arts and other community needs.

The Northern Piedmont Community Foundation awards grants from several different funds each year. NPCF’s community assistance grants fund nonprofits that have been operational for at least three years and offer program and general operating support. Meade M. Palmer Memorial Fund grants support general wellbeing in the area, while the Culpeper Foundation Fund is specific to Culpeper County. The Patricia and Nicolaas Kortlandt Memorial Fund supports projects that strengthen the fabric of local communities, Gordon Thornhill Excellence in Youth grants fund youth sports and agriculture enrichment and the Rappahannock Community Fund is specific to Rappahannock County. NPCF also hosts the annual Give Local Piedmont event on the first Tuesday of May each year.
