PROFILE: Established in 1992, Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) is a public/private partnership and grantmaker based in Richmond, Virginia. Virginia General Assembly and its Joint Commission on Health Care created VHCF to improve the local primary care delivery system and strengthen the healthcare safety net. The foundation aims to "help uninsured Virginians and those who live in underserved communities receive medical, dental and mental health care.” It funds local efforts for free clinics, community health centers and access to healthcare.
The Virginia Health Care Foundation largely funds organizations that make patient visits possible, offer free prescription medications and enroll Virginians in state-sponsored health insurance.
