PROFILE: Willem Kooyker is the founder of Blenheim Capital Management, with offices in New Jersey, New York, London and Amsterdam. He and his wife, Judith-Ann Corrente, are active in civic life in New York City and serve on a number of boards. Through the couple's charitable vehicle, the Monteforte Foundation, grants have been made to a number of New York City outfits, with a focus on arts and culture, education and more. In a recent year, the foundation held more than $26 million in assets and gave away around $8.4 million.

In New York City arts and culture, Judith serves as president, managing director and chief executive officer of the board of Metropolitan Opera, which has received ongoing support from the foundation. The Metropolitan Opera is also the site of the Judith-Ann Corrente and Willem Kooyker Chair. Recent money has also gone to Gotham Chamber Opera, the Museum of Modern Art, the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Manhattan Theatre Club, the Collegiate Chorale and Lang Lang International Music Foundation, among others. Kooyker sits on the board of the Asia Society, another recipient of ongoing support.

Kooyker and Judith have also supported education in New York City. Kooyker's alma mater Baruch College, a part of the City University of New York System, has been a major site of philanthropy, and the couple has supported the Willem Kooyker Deanship of the Zicklin School of Business at the college. Money has also gone to Chelsea Day School, Columbia University, Early Steps and Oliver Scholars Program, which "prepares extraordinary African-American and Latino students for success at top independent high schools and prestigious colleges." Well Medical College also received a large gift of approximately $1.3 million in a recent year.

Assorted sums have also gone to health outfits. Apart from Well Medical College, recent New York grantmaking has also involved Hospital for Special Surgery, and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Recent money has also gone to Central Park Conservancy, where Judith once served on the board of trustees.

Monteforte’s grants range anywhere from $5,000 to over $1 million. The average grant size is about $25,000. Most grantees are well-established, recognizeable New York City organizations.
