PROFILE: Established in 1966, the Boulder County Arts Alliance (BCAA) is a grantmaking arts organization based in Boulder, Colorado. It is the oldest multi-discipline arts service organization in the county and was created by a group of Boulder citizens who were inspired by the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts. The foundation aims to act as a "catalyst to incubate, stimulate and sustain a thriving arts community in Boulder County.” BCAA funds local efforts for art workshops, fiscal sponsorships, art projects, equipment expenses, operating expenses and art fellowships.

The Boulder County Arts Alliance provides various types of support for local art groups with its grants. BCAA also has donor-advised grant programs that support unforeseen hardships, recording jazz CDs, instruments and music and dance lessons for children. Opportunities for local art nonprofits include BCAA endowment grants that are available twice a year and the Martha Kate Thomas Fund for Artists that supports artists of color, with disabilities, indigenous artists and new generation artists. Pathways to Jazz grants help to develop new audiences, produce recordings and expose communities to jazz. Arts for All Children grants assist dance, music and art teachers to provide lessons or purchase instruments. BCAA also works through an Arts Advocacy Program, the Boulder County Arts Leadership Forum, and a partnership to incorporate more artists into the Memorial Day Bolder Boulder 10K race.

Grants range between about $1,000 and $5,000. Learn more about this funder’s local giving in the funded projects, artists and organizations section of the BCAA website.
