PROFILE: Established in 1963, the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) is a community foundation based in Parkersburg, West Virginia. PACF manages over 350 charitable funds and serves an 11-county region. The foundation aims “to serve our region's citizens by providing leadership and inspiring people to build permanent resources for the betterment of their communities through the foundation. It funds local efforts for human services, health, youth, education, STEM, arts and culture, homelessness, veterans, job training, parks and recreation, and other community needs.

The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation awards both grants and scholarships in the local community. PACF awards community action grants twice per year through a competitive process that is facilitated through unrestricted and field-of-interest funds. The foundation also makes special and urgent needs grants of up to $4,000 to help nonprofits during times of emergency. It also administers donor-advised grants through funds established by individual donors. Overall, the foundation provides program, project, capital, equipment, capacity-building, and general operating support. Foundation initiatives include a civic leaders fellowship program, a 24-hour online giving challenge, and regional affiliate funds.
