Stewart Family Foundation

OVERVIEW: The Stewart Family Foundation supports the arts, education, community activism for change, women and children's issues, and quality of life efforts in Salt Lake City and throughout Utah.

IP TAKE: This is a huge supporter of Utah’s arts scene, but nonprofits may need a personal connection to the Stewart couple to catch the foundation’s attention.

PROFILE: Established in 2002, the Stewart Family Foundation (SFF) is a private family foundation based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Diane P. Stewart and Samuel S. Stewart are the founders, and they have deep roots in Utah. Samuel Steward is the founder and chairman of Wasatch Advisors, a financial and investment firm. Diane Stewart is the founder of Modern West Fine Art, a collaborative effort to bring together the region’s artists. SFF funds local efforts to benefit the arts, education, community activism for change, women and children's issues, and causes to improve quality of life.

Grants for Arts and Culture, Education, Women and Girls, and Community Development

The Stewart Family Foundation’s arts program targets arts organizations and artists in Utah, including the Utah Museum of Fine Art and the BYU Museum of Art. SFF’s education funding focuses on access to education in local Utah schools and also to help disadvantaged women in Africa. The funder also supports community issues, such as women’s rights and access to healthcare and medical services for senior citizens.

Past local grantees include Alliance for a Better Utah, Birch Creek Service Ranch, and the Center for Documentary Expression and Art.
